In what looked like a scene straight out of a Bollywood movie, police arrested two drug dealers after a chase on Monday.

The dramatic turn of events unfolded in broad daylight near the Bansi Gate area in the heart of the city of Ferozepur.

The incident was caught on CCTV and the recording went viral.

Inspector Mohit Dhawan from SHO Town Police Station said police laid down a naka near the Bansi Gate area following an alert ahead of Independence Day.

“We were checking routine vehicles near the naka when two young people arrived there in a Swift car (PB 04 Ad 8020). I motioned for them to stop and told them to get out. They suddenly accelerated the car and tried to drive away,” the SHO said, adding that the two almost crashed into anything that came their way.

“Later I was afraid they would hit someone. I had to open fire at the front left of the car, but they continued,” SHO added.

Finally, after a long chase, the police caught them on the road to Arif ke about 10 km from the place.

During the check, the police recovered 10 grams of heroin from the two accused identified as Rajbir Singh, a resident of Basti Kiddanwali and Man Singh from the Baghdadi gate. Police reserved the accused under Sections 307, 353, 186, 279 and Sections 21, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act,” the SHO added.
