Kerlink’s involvement in the unique smart city project follows its role in the port of Moerdijk, a municipality in the south of the Netherlands, which installed a 27 megawatt wind farm in 2020 to provide clean energy to more than 27,000 homes in the region. Officials implemented a LoRaWAN IoT network, powered by Kerlink Wirnet ™ outdoor gateways, on the turbine towers to provide IoT services to the bustling port 120 meters below. The company has partnered on this project with Skylab BV, a Dutch supplier of sensors and custom systems for surveillance, tracking and digital location of objects, and which is part of the CENT-R consortium.
