A case has been filed under the IPC sections against an unidentified defendant, who stole a camera and other documents stolen from a vernacular daily office in Ludhiana
A camera and other documents were stolen from the office of a vernacular daily in Jagron on Saturday.
Newspaper editor Jaspal Singh alleged that as government agencies spy on him, it could be the work of those agencies. He also claimed that his phone was infected with the Pegasus spy tool.
Jaspal said he installed CCTV cameras in his home and office. On the night of January 11-12, while checking footage from his office using his phone, he noticed two masked men on the premises. He rushed to the office, but by then the accused had already left and his office was ransacked.
Assistant Deputy Inspector Darshan Singh, who is investigating the case, said a case under Sections 457 (Concealed Trespass or Burglary at Night) and 380 (Theft from Dwelling House) of the Indian Penal Code has was registered against the unidentified accused.
