Residents of the Kannamangala area of Whitefiled staged a protest on Saturday, demanding justice. Residents also alleged that the lack of sidewalks on the main road caused the death of the young student. “A young woman’s accident was caused by the negligence of a crane operator. The lack of trails caused this tragic accident. Improve that before it’s too late. We want justice,” read a banner at the protest.

In a similar incident, a 50-year-old woman riding a scooter was hit by a bus as she tried to navigate a pothole in Rajajinagar in October. She later died in hospital.
