SHO, lady SI suspended for covering the CCTV camera
LAHORE: Faisal Town SHO and the Deputy Inspector have been suspended for hosting a birthday party at the SHO office and covering the CCTV camera to conceal the festivity. Former SHO Faisal Town Yasir had held a birthday cake cutting ceremony in his office. CCTV cameras have been installed in SHO rooms across the city which are monitored from the DIG operations office. As celebratory activities were about to begin, an official just covered the CCTV footage with a rag. A sub-inspector is also seen standing at the scene with a few other people captured in the video. DIG operations suspended SHO and other officials. He also ordered a ministerial inquiry into the matter.
ACE arrests chief clerk, cop: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) of Punjab on Tuesday arrested Sheikh Tahir Mehmood, chief clerk of the drainage division of Faisalabad Irrigation Department, on the alleged false appointments.
The Faisalabad circle officer arrested the accused from Sheikhupura on the instructions of the ACE Punjab Managing Director, Goher Nafees. Sheikh Tahir appointed 15 ‘Baildars’ 10 years ago in Sheikhupura district for 80 days, but after the stipulated time expired, he continued to receive ghost employee salaries for ten years and caused a huge loss of approximately Rs6m to the public treasury. FIR No. 08/22 under various sections of the Pakistani Penal Code has been filed against the accused. In another case, ACE Punjab arrested a constable on the allegation of receiving an illegal gratuity. Defendant Ghulam Abbas Randhawa, who was working at ACE Police Station, Faisalabad as a Deputy, was arrested for receiving illegal gratuity of Rs 10,000 and demanding more through calls from Complainant Mian Naseer Ahmad.
arrested: CIA cantonment police arrested two suspects for the murder of a traffic cop following a parking dispute a few months ago. The arrested suspects have been identified as Awais Ayub Butt and Ali Shan alias Mani. The suspects reportedly exchanged harsh words with the guard about driving through and parking the vehicle near the victim’s house.
SUICIDE: A 20-year-old committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills in Kahna on Tuesday. Victim Mir Ali was reportedly frustrated by domestic disputes.
