Teens caught on camera celebrating after brutal murder
CCTV footage shows two teenage killers banging their fists as they celebrate the vigilante murder of a man.
Danes Mansha, Rimsha Tariq and Daiyaan Arif, all 18, scoured the internet to find someone they said wanted to have violent sex with women.
Their victim, Sohail Ali, 29, was drawn to Summerfield Park in Birmingham with a promise to meet a girl on December 4 last year.
He had spoken with Tariq online before agreeing to meet the girl in the park at 2:30 p.m.
Mansha, who was armed with a knife and a blank rifle, lay in wait for Arif before ambushing Mr. Ali, who was stabbed seven times and shot dead.
He was attacked with such force that the knife broke and part of the blade was found embedded in his chest.
Mr. Ali was rushed to hospital for treatment but died shortly after midnight.
CCTV shows Mansha and Arif punching each other as they calmly walked away from the scene of the murder.
They were arrested days later when detectives discovered messages on their phones discussing the attack and between Mr. Ali.
The teenager was in regular contact with each other days before the murder, and Tariq messaged Mr Ali on WhatsApp and Instagram just 30 minutes before the attack.
Following a trial at Coventry Crown Court, Mansha, of Edgbaston, and Tariq, of Walsall, were both convicted of murder.
Mansha, who was also convicted of possession of a bladed article, was jailed for 19 years while Tariq was ordered to serve at least nine years before being considered for parole.
Arif, 18, of Brandhall, Warley, who was convicted of manslaughter, was jailed for three and a half years.
Detective Inspector Laura Harrison of our West Midlands Police Homicide Team said: “This case is really sad.
“It was a completely insane attack that took one life and changed three others forever.
“My agents worked tirelessly on the case; and while today’s verdict may never bring Sohail back, I’m glad we were able to get justice for him and his family.
“My thoughts are with them right now.”
After the conviction, Mr. Ali’s grieving family said, “We are pleased that the defendants have been found guilty and sentenced today for the brutal crime they committed. Unfortunately, nothing can bring us Sohail back.
“Sohail was needlessly murdered and his life was taken from him. The pain we are suffering from his loss is overwhelming.
“He will stay in our hearts forever. “
